Finding a good hobby has become a question boggling the minds of all those people who don’t want to just ‘do nothing’ and couch potato themselves into obesity.
Work is becoming less and less formal, and even though a lot of us still think of a cubical whenever we hear the word ‘JOB’, recent practices and tendencies from all over the world show that GETTING THE JOB DONE is far more important than HAVING A JOB JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT.
With work hours being more and more flexible, leisure is introducing itself back into the lives of many people all over the world.
The list of things you can do in your free time is far longer than this, but for all those in need of an idea, here it is.
1. MEDITATION
A hobby usually means a way to fill up your free time, and if you want to be technical, taking your time to sit still and do absolutely nothing can be considered a reverse hobby.
All joking aside, learning how to be calm and doing work on the inside, as opposed to always requiring external stimulus, is probably much more fundamental.
That’s why meditation is #1 on this list.
2. YOGA
Yoga is one of the most effective ways to incorporate meditativeness into physical activity.
If you’ve never tried it, it may seem like a silly practice, but if you open your mind, you may be in for a surprise.
3. MARTIAL ARTS
Martial arts are not just a physical activity.
They require discipline, dedication, the calmness of the body, and the mind. It’s so much more than just learning how to fight and defend yourself. It’s a way of life.
4. TRADITIONAL SPORTS
Playing traditional, team sports is a fantastic way to get your heart pumping, but not only that. It’s also a great way to interact with other people, and do something that’ll make you feel like a man. It’s also an amazing way to make some new friends.
5. ROCK SPORTS

Another cool and fun activity perfect for blowing off steam.
Not only is it fun, but it’s also very challenging.
6. BOXING
A busy lifestyle of a modern gentleman usually brings a lot of anxiety and tension, and the worst thing one can do is to internalize all those negative emotions. Without the proper way to blow off some steam, a lot of people put their mental health at serious risk. And that’s where boxing comes in handy.
It gives you the perfect opportunity to put anyone’s picture on a bag and punch the shit out of it, and it’s an amazing workout.
So, unless you pick the wrong sparring partner, it’s pretty much a win-win situation.
7. BODYBUILDING
Going to the gym, and trying to be fitter and healthier is a bandwagon more and more people are jumping on, but why not take it a step further?
Make building your muscles your next goal.
It’s not an easy thing to do, and not only is it a great hobby, once you dive deep it becomes a lifestyle.
8. TRAVELING
Immersing yourself in a foreign culture may require a lot of funds and free time, but the satisfaction it brings is unparalleled.
Seeing the world and its beauties first hand is one of the most joyful adventures a person could experience.
9. LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Learning a language could be one of the hardest things to do on this list, but being able to communicate in a foreign language opens a completely new world of possibilities.
10. DANCING
Men aren’t typically good dancers, so when you encounter one in the wild it leaves quite the impression.
This probably falls into the category of the sexiest hobbies a man could possibly have. Plus, man to women ratio in dancing lessons is, like, 5 to 1. So, you do the math.
11. PHOTOGRAPHY
Once you get interested in photography you’ll start to look for landscapes and beautiful things to capture all the time. Learning how to take great photos is not only an amazing way to explore the world around you, once you get better it could make you some money on the side.
12. READING
“The secrets of the ages are locked up in books”. One of the best quotes I’ve ever heard.
13. PODCASTING

Podcasting is hotter than ever, and if you have a lot of opinions and thoughts eager to hit the ether, it’s time to start podcasting your free time away.
14. TAKE UP AN INSTRUMENT
Don’t tell me you’ve never dreamed of wooing a girl with a song? Just admit it.
Which song was it? For me, it’s `Hotel California`. In my imagination, I was always an exquisite guitar player. Needles to say, I’ve never learned how to play guitar, but I’m allowed to dream, right?
Taking up an instrument you’ve always wanted to learn how to play could be one of the most fulfilling achievements of your life. Pantydropping factor aside.
15. COOKING
Being able to make something edible is one thing, but being able to make a whole meal from scratch is a skill to have.
Not to mention that according to women it’s one of the sexiest skills a man can have.
16. SKIING
If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere where skiing doesn’t require you to take a vacation, make use of it.
17. SURFING
To put it simply, it nothing short of impressive.
18. SNORKELING
It’s a known fact that spending time doing activities in the water has plenty of beneficial effects on both the body and the mind, but seeing the beauties of the underwater world first hand is definitely a breathtaking activity.
19. HIKING

This combination of cardio workout and spending time outside is not just a fantastic way to spend your free time, it’s also an activity that reaps a ton of benefits for both your physical and mental health.
20. DARTS
Playing darts is one of those things we all enjoy doing once in a while. We may not have the proper skill set to hit the triple 20, but what we lack in skills, we make up in enthusiasm. But why don’t you invest some time in developing your game?
It’s a fantastic date idea, and if you’re anything else than horrible, you’re better than most people. And a few steps closer to impressing your date.
21. SNOOKER
When someone plays darts well it’s really cool and quite impressive. But mastering the skill snooker is a different beast entirely. Being able to excel in a game so elegant and tactical is nothing less than admirable.
It may take a lot of practice, but it’s a marvelous way to spend your free time if you ask me.
22. ARCHERY
Now, this hobby is a bit unorthodox, but you have to admit that it could be a pretty cool way to spend your free time.
23. COLLECTING STUFF
Depending on what you’re passionate about, you can pretty much collect anything you want. From cigarette lighters to luxury cars. Whatever you want. Not only is it an amazingly fulfilling hobby, but it’s also a great conversation topic.
24. CHAINSAW CARVING
What it lacks in class it makes up in raw masculinity.
25. MAGIC
A lot of us, as kids, dreamt of becoming a great magician. And then life happens and we forget all about it.
Don’t be afraid to bring that child back to life. Doing magic will definitely be the perfect starting point.
26. BECOME A COMEDIAN
It takes some serious cohones to man up and go on a stage, but if you’re funny and people around you often tell you “You should be a comedian” maybe you should think about it. You’ve got nothing to lose.
27. CARDISTRY

Witnessing cardistry first hand is not something one easily forgets.
28. CAR DETAILING
We guys tend to enjoy washing our cars. When it comes to cleaning the house, we’re nowhere near as pedantic.
And detailing isn’t cheap. Not only can you make it a hobby, but you could also make some serious money detailing cars.
29. FURNITURE MAKING
Another great idea that can also be a great business opportunity.
30. PAINTBALL
Spending time shooting your friends with paint bullets is not only an amazing way to bring the group closer together, but it also gives you the chance to establish your position as the alpha male.
31. POKER
Now, this is some big boy stuff. Even if you play with fake money, it still hurts when you see it going across the table. Add some whiskey and cigars to the mix, and I dare you not to feel like James Freaking Bond.
32. FISHKEEPING
Taking care of fish is everything but easy, but nevertheless, building an entire ecosystem in your living room is one of the best ways to bring life into your living space.
Whether is just a goldfish, or a hundred colorful guppies, beautiful aquariums never fail to fascinate.
33. FISHING
I’ve gone fishing once, and it was absolutely delightful. Me and my friend on a boat. Silently sipping on a bottle of cold beer, staring into the water. One of the calmest experiences of my life.
Until mosquitos came and ruined everything.
Years later, completely randomly, I’ve learned that the best way to repel mosquitos if you’re outside is to light up some ground coffee and let it burn slowly.
So if you want to go fishing, bring some coffee grounds and enjoy this enchanting experience.
I know I will as soon as I get the chance.
34. CIGAR ENTHUSIAST

Spending your free time smoking a nice Cuban cigar, is not something everyone will appreciate. It may not be the healthiest of options, but when it comes to sophistication and manliness, it’s second to none.
35. ALCOHOL CONNOISSEUR
This one goes hand in hand with the previous. A cigar in one hand and a drink in the other, are the masculine combo that’s here to stay.
36. BEEKEEPING
Did you know that if all bees were to go extinct the world people on the Earth would only have four years left to live?
37. HOME WINEMAKING
A bottle of good wine and a nice dinner are the perfect combo. Imagine how cool would it be to be able to serve a glass of your own, homemade wine on your next date?
It’s easier than you think. Just google `homemade wine kit` and you can find everything you need to make wine from start to finish, and it all comes in one box.
38. GARDENING
Growing your own plants and vegetables is not only a great hobby, but it’s also a pretty smart move. If you have space, eating the veggies you’ve produced could not only save you a few bucks, it’ll also give you a sense of accomplishment. And it will bring you closer to nature. We could all use some of that.
39. WOOD CARVING
A meticulous craft, such as this is not for everyone. Only for the most steady-handed among us.
40. PARACHUTING
A dangerous hobby for a dangerous bad boy.
Which one of these hobby ideas best suits you?
