Being a man’s not really on anyone’s list of skills. It’s simple, all you had to do was to be born with an extra Y chromosome.
Being a real and high-quality male specimen is a different thing entirely.
There are a lot of rules and principles regarding how to be a real man, and although some of them may not be applicable in today’s society, others are still as current as they were 100 years ago.
Don’t get me wrong, there certainly is not a strict guide on how to be a man, with bullet points, do’s and don’ts, that you have to follow religiously.
But some general principles, as well as handy advice, have the power to significantly advance your manliness, and their potential should not be taken for granted.
Some of these skills may seem trivial and random, but within each and every one of them lies great potential waiting to be used to make you a better man.
1. Make decisions

“Those who reach decisions promptly and definitely, know what they want, and generally, get it. The leaders in every walk of life decide quickly, and firmly. That is the major reason why they are leaders. The world has a habit of making room for the person whose words and actions show they know where they are going.”
Napoleon Hill
2. Say NO

Should saying NO really be on the list of skills you should acquire?
I believe it should.
Being able to say NO without feeling guilty and selfish is of paramount importance.
Anyone who expects you to always say yes clearly doesn’t have your best interest at heart.
We say yes to please people we care about, we say yes to avoid conflict, and there’s nothing wrong with that. What’s wrong, though, is saying yes when every fiber of your body is screaming NO.
Avoid letting emotional blackmailers get away with it.
Always say NO when you feel it’s the right thing to say.
You have the right to do it.
3. Learn how to manage money

“If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as getting.”
Benjamin Franklin
4. Get things done

We all know what to do and how to do it, and we probably have a list of reasons why we can’t do whatever is that we want to do, but the only thing that matters is whether we do it or not.
Knowing is not enough, you must take action.
That’s what real men do.
“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.”
Henry Ford
5. Treat others with respect

You cannot expect others to treat you with respect if you don’t reciprocate. And at the of the day, being disrespectful is just being an a$$hole said more politely.
I’m sure you don’t want to be an a$$hole.
6. Be a good listener

Being a good listener doesn’t mean that you have to remember random information and pull it out of your sleeve when necessary.
It means that you have to listen, truly listen to what’s being said to you.
Be interested, engage in a meaningful conversation, and try to understand the person you’re talking to.
7. Keep the chivalry alive

Buy her flowers. Open the door for her. Walk on the street side of the sidewalk. Pay on the first date.
Be a gentleman. It’s not that hard.
8. Measure your words

“The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”
Dorothy Nevill
9. Make a good first impression

Upon meeting somebody for the first time, we’re being judged based on a number of factors, such as voice, style, body language, etc.
It takes 7 seconds to make a first impression. After that, We tend to stick to our initial impressions and find it very difficult to change our opinion, even when presented with lots of evidence to the contrary.
It goes without saying just how important it is to be aware of how we come across to others during a first meeting.
Once we realize our strengths and weaknesses, we can adjust them accordingly, in order to make sure we always leave a killer first impression.
10. Be a reader

“The man who does not read good books is no better than the man who can’t.”
Mark Twain
11. Have a firm handshake

There’s absolutely nothing worse than a man with a handshake of a girl scout.
12. Be assertive
13. Be informed

Do you watch the news or are you totally oblivious about what’s happening around you?
Find a good, reliable and unbiased source of information, and just stay current.
14. Perform CPR
Performing CPR properly can double a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
Learn to perform it, so you know what to do if someone’s ever experiencing a life-threatening emergency.
15. Change a flat tire

Do you really want to be a guy who doesn’t know how to change a flat tire?
16. Start a fire

Learning some life-saving skills should be on everybody’s list of priorities.
If you ever find yourself in a survival situation, knowing how to start a fire without any tools may save your life.
If you can’t practice and actually learn how to start a fire right now, for whatever reason, at least watch a tutorial on Youtube.
Just get familiar with the process, and if you ever need to do it, at least you won’t be totally oblivious.
17. Perform household fixes

Fix a leak, unclog a toilet, silence a creaky door.
Some home repair projects require professional attention, but the simple ones should really be taken care of by the man of the house. Man up, get handy, DIY. Once you finish the project, your partner will find it really sexy and you’ll feel as macho as a freaking caveman.
18. Give a woman an orgasm

Are you able to locate the clitoris in pitch dark with 100% accuracy?
If not, ignore all the other skills for now.
The first step is to do thorough research on the topic, and after that, it’s a matter of practice, practice, and more practice with only one rule in mind: “Ladies first!”
19. Unhook a bra with one hand
20. Give a massage

Rubbing baby oil on a female body. A freaking amazing activity.
Man, if you know how to give her a good massage after a stressful day, you’re in for the treat. It’s the one thing that is guaranteed to get her in the mood.
USE IT.
21. Know how to prepare at least 3 good meals

It doesn’t matter whether it’s pancakes or steak or eggs benedict. Just have a few meals in your repertoire. A man that knows his way around the kitchen is a sexy mf.
22. Mix drinks

Learning how to mix a few simple cocktails is one of those skills that’s guaranteed to earn you a few extra points the next time you have guests you’d like to impress.
23. Iron your clothes

Never leave your house wearing wrinkled clothes. Please. If you don’t already know how to do it, learn. It’s so disgusting it should be punishable by law.
24. Do your laundry

This is just something that you have to know how to do on your own.
Grown men know how to do their laundry.
There you go.
24 everyday skills with so much potential and yet, they’re overlooked by so many men.
Don’t be one of them.
You’re better than that.
